The event featured key interventions by Birol Ergüven, Board Member of Limak Energy and Vice President of the DEİK Energy Business Council, and Alberto Cubero Ribas, Country Manager of Limak in Spain. In their joint presentation, “Building Future’s Infrastructure: Energy and Construction,” they outlined Limak’s comprehensive involvement in large-scale international infrastructure and energy projects, such as the Kuwait International Airport and the remodeling of the Spotify Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona.

LIMAK CONSTRUMAT 2The speakers emphasized the enormous potential for Spanish-Turkish collaboration, especially in joint projects in third countries, including the Balkans, North Africa, and Central Asia. The presentation also addressed Türkiye’s growing leadership in renewable energy, particularly in solar, wind, and hydroelectric energy, and Limak’s expanding portfolio, which aligns with both national and global sustainability goals.

On May 22, Ebru Özdemir, Chair of DEİK’s Türkiye–Spain Business Council, delivered a keynote address highlighting the strategic role of construction in Turkish-Spanish relations. She advocated for deeper cooperation in the sector through joint bids for global infrastructure projects, technology exchange, academic partnerships, and financing initiatives that combine EU experience with emerging market insight.

A particularly striking presentation was given by Resit Yildiz, Project Director of the Spotify Camp Nou renovation. He showcased Limak’s engineering excellence, referencing its ranking as the 48th largest international contractor (ENR, 2023), and spotlighting major projects like the Çanakkale 1915 Bridge, Yusufeli Dam, and Istanbul Airport. These projects illustrate Limak’s capacity to lead complex megastructures with cutting-edge solutions and international reach.

Beyond engineering, Limak also shared its social impact efforts. Valentina Gara, Coordinator of the Global Engineer Girls (GEG) program, presented the initiative’s expansion into Spain. Founded in Türkiye in 2015, GEG promotes female empowerment in STEM fields through scholarships, mentorship, and professional training. To date, the program operates in multiple countries and has supported over 1,700 participants globally.

Limak’s participation in Construmat reaffirmed its commitment not only to infrastructure excellence but also to inclusive and sustainable growth. With Spain now a key node in its international strategy, the company continues to bridge markets, share know-how, and build lasting partnerships across borders.
