ISTANBUL AIRSHOW, previously organized as AIREX ISTANBUL up until 2012, has been organized bi-annually since 1996. The airshow is unique by being the single “Civil Only” aviation platform in the world that incorporates all aspects of the civil aviation from commercial, business and general aviation to airport industries. In parallel to the significant performance of the Turkish civil aviation industry in the last decade and the support of the international aviation community for over 20 years, the Show which began its journey in 1996 with only 2 aircraft on display, hosted 56 civil in 2014, surpassing most of the internationally acknowledged aviation exhibitions. Last event hosted 151 companies and was visited by 36,000 professionals from all around the world.
The organization is fully supported by; the Ministry of Transportation, Maritime and Communications, the General Directorate of Civil Aviation, the General Directorate of State Airports Authority; sponsored by Turkish Airlines, Turkish Technic and TAV Airports Holding, and organized with the support of all members of the Turkish civil aviation community.
It is evident that both the TRJet and Istanbul 3rd Airport projects which are in their final phases, will accelerate the development of the Turkish civil aviation industry. Initial effects of these are actually observed from the increased number and variety of international exhibitor and visitor applications to the 2016 Show. Hence, both the Turkish civil aviation industry and ISTANBUL AIRSHOW are expected to grow even on a faster pace from 2016 on… Therefore 2016 event will be appealing also for companies who wants to be a player in projects under this development strategy.
