The Spanish-Turkish Chamber of Commerce proudly highlights a landmark initiative led by Turkish infrastructure group Limak in partnership with the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). This collaboration is part of Limak’s international program, Global Engineer Girls (GEG), which aims to promote gender diversity in STEM by supporting young women in Spain in pursuing engineering careers.

This strategic alliance builds upon the success of Engineer Girls of Turkey, a program that has positively impacted hundreds of students since its inception in 2015. Now expanding into Spain, GEG will offer 14 female engineering students mentorship, specialized training, and access to professional development opportunities, empowering them to succeed in a field that has historically been dominated by men.LIMAK UPC GEG

The official launch took place on May 20, 2025, at Juno House in Barcelona and gathered leaders from academia, business, and civil society. The event featured expert panels on the challenges and opportunities facing women in STEM, with speakers including representatives from Molins, Radian, Womenalia, and WeEQUAL.

Ebru Özdemir, Vice Chair of Limak and founder of the GEG program, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to inclusive education. Engineering is no longer a male-only domain. Through GEG, we aim to give young women the tools and confidence to lead change in their communities and beyond,” she stated.

This initiative not only strengthens ties between Spain and Türkiye but also sets a global example of corporate-social cooperation to advance gender equality and innovation in the workforce.
